This could be another great weekend of steelhead fishing in Lake County. The Grand and Chagrin Rivers are currently low and clear, however cooler temperatures and a little rain in the forecast could light things up. We are seeing plenty of steelhead caught, mainly in the lower, deeper regions of the rivers. The local creeks are still a little low, but watch for quick changes if we get rain. Clear water might cause less hits, but it makes the catch that much more exciting.
Anglers are catching walleye and steelhead off the Painesville Township Park pier and the Fairport short pier. Another lake trout was also reported. Currently there is some repair work being done on the steps leading to the Painesville Township Park pier, so please be cautious and heed the posted signs. The pier will remain open as long as conditions permit.
