Shelter Reservations for 2013
Make your reservations online, by phone, mail or in person.

Shelter Information

All shelters provide picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and other amenities and are great for family reunions or other special gatherings. Some of the shelters include power, nearby trails, playground equipment, and volleyball courts for additional fun.

How to Reserve a Shelter

Reservations may be made online,
by phone, mail, or in person.

Deposits

  • A $50 refundable deposit is required of Lake County residents wishing to reserve a picnic shelter.
  • Residents living outside Lake County pay a $50 refundable deposit and a $25 rental fee.

Payment

Payment can be made in person, by phone, online or by mailing the reservation information to Lake Metroparks Registration Department, 11211 Spear Road, Concord Township, Ohio 44077.

Naturalist Guide Service

Add a specialized nature program to your family or group visit to Lake Metroparks. Various topics and general discovery hikes available.

Fee: $4 per person, minimum $40 (1- to 2-hour program)

Reservable Shelters


Chagrin River Park (Reeves Road Entrance)

Located on Reeves Road in Willoughby. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers a playground, sand volleyball court, hiking trails, fishing in the Chagrin River, a recreational field and electricity.

Chagrin River Park (Rural Drive Entrance)

Located on Rural Drive in Willoughby. The shelter capacity is 75 and has electricity. The park offers hiking trails, fishing in the Chagrin River and modern restrooms.

Chapin Forest Reservation - Twin PondsTwin Ponds Shelter at Chapin Forest Reservation

Located on Hobart Road in Kirtland. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers a playground, recreational field, volleyball, hiking trails, cross-country skiing, ski rental, pond fishing and a fireplace in the shelter.

Chapin Forest Reservation - Quarry Shelter

Located on Route 306 in Kirtland. The shelter capacity is 75, and overlooks a small pond. This park offers hiking trails and pond fishing.

Concord Woods Nature Park

Located on Spear Road in Concord Twp. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers a playground, electricity, hiking trails, pond fishing and a fireplace in the shelter.

Girdled Road Reservation

Located on Radcliffe Road in Concord. The shelter and surrounding area can accommodate up to 250 people. This park offers electricity, a ballfield, playground, hiking trails and pond fishing.

Gully Brook Park

Located on River Road in Willoughby Hills. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers restrooms, a hiking trail and a playground.

Helen Hazen Wyman Park

Lake Metroparks Helen Hazen Wyman Park • Concord Twp.

Located on Painesville Warren Road in Concord Township, alongside Big Creek. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers restrooms, a playground, fishing in the Grand River and Big Creek and a game field.

Hidden Valley Park

Shelter at Hidden Valley Park

Located on Klasen Road in Madison, alongside the Grand River. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers a playground, electricity, hiking trails and fishing in the Grand River.

Lakeshore Reservation

Located on Lockwood Road in Perry, on the shores of Lake Erie. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers electricity, a sundial, a paved All Peoples Trail and access to the Lake Erie shoreline.

Penitentiary Glen Reservation

Located on Kirtland-Chardon Road in Kirtland. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers hiking trails (some paved), Nature Center with gift shop, Wildlife Center, pond fishing and a fire ring near the shelter.

Located on Bailey Road in Madison alongside the Grand River. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers electricity, winter sledding and a fire ring near the shelter.

Located on Hopkins Road in Mentor. The shelter capacity is 75. This park offers electricity, a playground, fishing, hiking trails (some paved) and a fireplace in the shelter.
