“We’ve got lightning and rain shelters at each side of the course here at Pine Ridge Country Club, the shelters being centrally located,” said Tom Weiss, director of Lake Metroparks’ golf operations.
“And we also have signage that tells our players that if they hear a single blast from an air horn that all golfing should cease and then seek shelter,” he added.
Weiss said Lake Metroparks goes further by deploying volunteers who travel the course prior to a storm event to warn golfers of the impending stormy and potentially life-threatening conditions.
