The Super Star Party is an annual family astronomy night that features many indoor and outdoor activities for stargazers of all ages.
Registration information
- Come and celebrate 50 years of the Space Race!
As you walk around Penitentiary Glen try and “Spot the Sputniks”.
(Sputnik was the world’s first artificial satellite)
- Watch the Perseid Meteor Shower
- View the majestic display of the summer night sky above our park. View planets and other stellar objects with telescopes and expert guidance provided by the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society.
Members from CVAS will lead a discussion on how to use a telescope.
- Take a stroll with others on a “Race to Space” night hike
- Watch a presentation by NASA about the missions to Mars.
- The Lake Shore Live Steamers will be offering a “Stargazers Express Train Ride” on miniature steam engines (weather permitting).
- The Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center yard will be open featuring the program “Nocturnal Neighbors”. There will also be a Wildlife Specialist available to introduce visitors to residents and answer questions.
- Astronomical crafts and out of this world games.
- Sit back, relax, and watch as Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise explore new life ands new civilizations.
- Explore Backyard Astronomy as you step inside the STARLAB indoor inflatable planetarium.
- Discover “out-of-this-world” gifts at the Nature Store. Refreshments will be available.
Advanced-registration is required to attend the Super Star Party. Registration fee for adults is $4; children ages 2 – 11, $3 and under 2 are free. All participants will receive a snack, drink, and a glow necklace. Program runs rain or shine.
