Earth Day's 40th AnniversaryApril 18, 2010

The first Earth Day in 1970 started many efforts to make the Earth healthier. Farmpark and Penitentiary Glen Reservation features different celebrations and displays focusing on conservation efforts to help protect the Earth. 

March for the Earth!

  • Celebrate the Earth Day's 40th anniversary with Lake Metroparks!
  • Get your groove on and show some Flower Power!
  • Dress in late 60s, early 70s clothes
  • Make signs and take a walk about Caring for the Earth

Discover earth friendly ways to make an earth friendly difference at home. You can learn how to start your own garden, investigate new ways to conserve
energy at home, and how alternative energy work.

Enjoy a family day in the country with fun games and crafts for the kids.

Bring your worn out rechargeable batteries and Bulldog Batteries will
recycle them.
Please do not bring non rechargeable batteries.

Take 1-90 to Rt. 306 (Mentor, Kirtland Exit), South on Rt. 306 five miles to Eucid Chardon Rd. (Rt.6), East on Euclid Chardon Road one mile. Entrance to Farmpark is on the right

Take I-90 to Rt. 306 south for about one mile. Turn left onto Rt. 615. Turn right (east) onto Kirtland-Chardon Road and continue for two miles. Penitentiary Glen Reservation is located on the right (south) side of the road.
