River Jamboree

Water, bugs and fun!

They are creepy, they are crawly, they live in the water and they have no backbone! They are the aquatic macro-invertebrates, or the big water bugs. So let’s go catch some crayfish, find out what a hellgrammite is or learn what kind of dragonfly just buzzed by your head. There will be activities, presentations, games and more. Be prepared to get wet as some optional activities will take place in the Grand River. This free family event will focus on those species and qualities that make the Grand River unique. (Registration required)

Other activities:

Live Water Bug display

Build a Caddisfly House

“Is This River Healthy?” creek hikes

Bugs that walk on water! - Water striders and Whirligig beetles

The Dragon and the Damsel…Dragonflies and Damselflies

Crayfish or Crawdads, enjoy a presentation on these critters

Receive a FREE Dragonfly and Damselfly fieldguide
