Painesville Township Park

Lake Metroparks entered a cooperative lease agreement with the Painesville Township Park commissioners in 1991 to operate and manage the park. Since that time, more than one million dollars worth of improvements have been made to the park, including extensive renovation of the dance hall and ball fields. Lakefront Trail

We invite you to take in the views along the lakefront trail adjacent to Painesville Township Park. With two phases complete, the trail engineering and design of phase three is in progress. Construction is anticipated to begin this fall with final completion in summer 2027. Phase three will begin at the endpoint of phase two and extend the trail an additional 9,500 feet including connector trails. An entrance drive and parking areas will be constructed as part of a separate project. A flush restroom and shoreline decks are also under design for completion in 2027.

Lake Metroparks looks forward to providing more ADA-accessible routes for visitors to take in the sights of Lake Erie as well as increasing recreational opportunities for birding, biking and fishing. This project will also lay the groundwork for future phases to fully connect Fairport Harbor and Painesville Township.

200′ ADA-accessible pier

The pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lake Metroparks and the Painesville Township Board of Park Commissioners partnered on a shoreline project that included protection of the shoreline, the 200′ pier and ADA access to Lake Erie and its spectacular views, sunsets, fishing and summer breezes.

Although park hours are 6 am to 11 pm, the pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but will be closed during inclement weather. For safety and enjoyment of the pier:

• Swimming and diving is prohibited due to hazardous underwater conditions.
• Cleaning fish is prohibited on the pier.
• Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
• Riding bikes, skateboards or scooters is prohibited on the pier.
• Feeding wildlife is prohibited.

Community Center/Dance Hall

The dance hall, renovated in 1992 and now called the Community Center to reflect the many uses of the facility, is host to recreational and community programs and rentals.

Rentals

The building may be rented for private functions when not being used for park-sponsored programs. The handicap-accessible facility consists of a large hall with a 5,000 square-foot wooden dance floor; seating at tables and chairs for 225 people; a kitchen and concession area; and restrooms. Catering and event planning assistance is available.
