NOTICE: Hillside stabilization efforts are underway at Painesville Township Park and will continue until Memorial Day. To mitigate erosion concerns, steel sheet piling and a retaining wall will be installed, and improvements will be made to the drainage infrastructure on the slope to the east of the stairway to the pier.

Please expect intermittent closures of the park’s north entrance and access to the pier and Lakefront Trail during the next several weeks. We will do our best to post specific closure and access updates on Facebook, however, plans may be impacted by weather conditions and other circumstances. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these necessary improvements. Please check back for updates.

Lake Metroparks entered a cooperative lease agreement with the Painesville Township Park commissioners in 1991 to operate and manage the park. Since that time, more than one million dollars worth of improvements have been made to the park, including extensive renovation of the dance hall and ball fields. Sunset Cam

The sunset cam is temporarily unavailable. Please check back for updates.

200′ ADA-accessible pier

The pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Lake Metroparks and the Painesville Township Board of Park Commissioners partnered on a shoreline project that included protection of the shoreline, the 200′ pier and ADA access to Lake Erie and its spectacular views, sunsets, fishing and summer breezes.

Although park hours are 6 am to 11 pm, the pier is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but will be closed during inclement weather. For safety and enjoyment of the pier:

  • Swimming and diving is prohibited due to hazardous underwater conditions.
  • Cleaning fish is prohibited on the pier.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  • Riding bikes, skateboards or scooters is prohibited on the pier.
  • Feeding wildlife is prohibited.

Community Center/Dance Hall

The dance hall, renovated in 1992 and now called the Community Center to reflect the many uses of the facility, is host to recreational and community programs and rentals.

Rentals

The building may be rented for private functions when not being used for park-sponsored programs. The handicap-accessible facility consists of a large hall with a 5,000 square-foot wooden dance floor; seating at tables and chairs for 225 people; a kitchen and concession area; and restrooms. Catering and event planning assistance is available.

The Community Center is a great place for seminars, showers, reunions, weddings, holiday gatherings and meetings. To reserve the center or for more information, call Lake Metroparks Registration Department at 440-358-7275 or 800-669-9226. Click here for more information.

Baseball/Softball fields

Painesville Township Park offers three regulation baseball/softball fields. For more information or to rent a field, click here or contact Lake Metroparks Registration at 440-358-7275 or 800-669-9226.
