Lake Metroparks is excited to announce a new set of sensory sensitive programs for children. These new programs for ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 10 focus on our community of younger children with disabilities.
Children benefit tremendously from a social story that details in pictures who will teach the program, where the program will take place, activities that will take place, and what they will learn during the program. This story along with a detailed schedule will be emailed to parents or guardians prior to the program. Activities are modified to fit the needs and skills of students with physical, sensory, or developmental disabilities.
Spring and summer programs include:
Fridays on the Farm: Make a plant to take home and put in your garden!
Alphabet Adventures: “B” is for Bubbles: Learning the alphabet can be fun through reading, crafting and adventuring! Come learn and have fun at the same time as we explore bubbles!
Creek Discoveries: Many small living things can be found in our creeks. Let’s grab a net and a bucket and discover them together!
Alphabet Adventures: “H” is for Horses: Come meet our horses and join us for a live horse tale (story). We will groom a small horse and finish with a craft.
